आईआईआईटी गांधीनगर ने के संयुक्त रिसर्च से ये साबित हो चुका है कि गंदे पानी मे इस वायरस के जीन्स है। अब तक फ्रांस, अमेरिका, ऑस्ट्रेलिया, नीदरलैंड, में कोरोना वायरस की मौजूदगी वहां की नालियों के पानी में पाई गई है।
आईआईआईटी गांधीनगर के प्रोफेसर मनीष कुमार के मुताबिक 8 से 27 मई तक गुजरात के पॉल्युशन कंट्रोल बोर्ड की मदत से कुछ सेम्पल इकट्ठा कराए गए उनमे से प्राप्त जेनेटिक मेटेरियल से कोरोना वायरस के जीन्स मिले हैं। हालाँकि वैज्ञानिकों का मानना है ये जीन्स कोरोना परिवार का है तो ये पानी से संक्रमण फैला सकता है। अभी भी इसकी जांच जारी है।

Although scientists believe that these genes belong to the Corona family, it can spread the infection with water. It is still under investigation.
